For many people, beauty pageants are seen as a destination. For Shreya Sumi, they became the beginning of something much bigger.
Today, the founder of SSVJ Model Media LLC is building an international media, production, and publishing platform focused on visibility, representation, and creative opportunity. But long before the global titles, runway appearances, and magazine covers, Shreya says entrepreneurship was already quietly taking shape in her life.
“Entrepreneurship was always in me,” she says. “It was forming long before the public recognition happened.”
That instinct eventually evolved into SSVJ Model Media LLC, a Hollywood-based company that operates across media, entertainment, production, publishing, brand campaigns, and talent development. The company creates editorial shoots, international magazine covers, fashion films, event productions, and visual storytelling campaigns powered by advanced AI technology.
The path to building it, however, was far from linear.
A major turning point came when Shreya won the title of Mrs. Universe Asia USA 2022. The recognition elevated her visibility globally, but more importantly, it reshaped her sense of purpose. Instead of viewing the title as a personal achievement alone, she saw it as an opportunity to create pathways for others.
“The title became a catalyst,” she explains. “It gave me a platform to uplift people who deserve access to international opportunities.”
That mission became clearer after she moved to the United States and experienced firsthand how limited multicultural representation still was within mainstream fashion and media. While opportunities existed, access often depended on connections, industry circles, or fitting into very narrow expectations.

Rather than adapting to those barriers, she decided to challenge them.
Through SSVJ Model Media, Shreya built a platform that supports founders, creatives, aspiring talent, and professionals looking to strengthen their visibility and personal brand. The company offers portfolio development, editorial shoots, publication opportunities, branding support, and visual storytelling designed to elevate individuals professionally.
Importantly, she is careful to clarify what the company is and what it is not.
“We are not a traditional modeling agency,” she says. “Our focus is on development, preparation, production, and positioning.”
That distinction matters because Shreya’s vision extends beyond fashion alone. Her work sits at the intersection of media, entrepreneurship, branding, and storytelling. The company’s projects have included fashion films in Paris and London, global runway collaborations, international pageantry, and cross-continental creative productions.
Shreya herself has walked major fashion weeks in New York, Los Angeles, London, Milan, and Paris, experiences she says transformed her understanding of the industry.
“Fashion looks glamorous from the outside, but what people don’t see is the discipline behind it,” she says. “The long hours, the castings, the constant reinvention. It taught me resilience.”
Those experiences also deepened her awareness of representation and visibility. Coming from a multicultural background, she understood the importance of diverse stories and identities being seen on global platforms.
“Fashion is not just about clothing,” she says. “It is about voices, culture, and identity.”

That philosophy now shapes how she mentors emerging talent.
A large part of Shreya’s work focuses on helping women and young creatives build confidence in industries where access has traditionally been limited. Many of the people she works with are pursuing dreams they once believed were out of reach.
“I know what it feels like to navigate industries without clear pathways,” she says. “That’s why mentorship is so important to me.”
Beyond production and media, Shreya has also established herself as a columnist and thought leader, frequently writing and speaking about women in leadership, entrepreneurship, representation, and creative industries. Her perspective is rooted not just in observation, but lived experience.
“A lot of my work is about helping women step into spaces where their voices are still underrepresented,” she explains.
Whether discussing business leadership, media visibility, or entrepreneurship, her message consistently returns to empowerment and ownership. She believes success should be defined personally, not according to external expectations.
“I’ve learned that success is not one milestone,” she says. “It evolves. You have to build a version of success that feels true to who you are.”
Looking ahead, Shreya’s ambitions remain deeply tied to impact. While SSVJ Model Media continues to expand internationally, her focus remains on opening doors for others through storytelling, creative production, and global visibility.
For her, legacy is not measured only by personal achievements, but by the opportunities created along the way.
“If my journey can inspire someone else to believe their path is possible,” she says, “then that is success.”
